Quran’s description of a Good Muslim

FOR Believers are those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a tremor in their hearts, and when they hear His signs rehearsed, find their faith strengthened, and put (all) their trust in their Lord; Who establish regular prayers (namaaz) and spend freely out of the gifts We have given them for Sustenance; Such in truth are the Believers; they have grades of dignity with their Lord, and forgiveness and generous sustenance.

Seek Allah’s help with patient perseverance and prayer; it is indeed hard, except for those who are humble.

Who bear in mind the certainty that they are to meet their Lord and that they are to return to Him.

Sura Al-Baqarah Ayat no 45,46

27-03-2014

And for those who fear Allah, He (ever) prepares a way out,

And He provides for him from (sources) he never could imagine.

And if anyone puts his trust in Allah, sufficient is Allah for him. For

Allah will surely accomplish his purpose; verily, for all things has

Allah appointed a due proportion.

Sura At- Talaq

Ayat nos 2 (part) and 3

Frightening description of the Day of Judgement!! May Allah have mercy on us!
At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,
That Day shall a man flee from his own brother,
And from his mother and father,
And from his wife and his children.
Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him unmindful to the others.
Some faces that Day will be beaming (with joy),
Laughing, rejoicing.
And other faces that Day will be dust-stained,
Blackness will cover them,
Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of Iniquity (vice).
Sura Al-Abasa Ayat 33-42

AND THEN THERE WERE NONE!

3-10-2015…….I posted this blog two years back, hence readres may note a difference in the days mentioned. I still feel the lessons of Eid ul Azha should be re learnt, not only by children but also by grown ups like me!

My house is strangely quiet for the last two or three days! In fact, the street I live on has also lost its extra ordinary hustle and bustle. The happy kids, enjoying the glorious days before Eid ul Azha, are no more to be seen as they are back to their school and home work regimes.

The city was bustling with activity till last Tuesday! Cows and goats were the most sought out living beings treading the earth in our part of the world. Discussions revolved around them, prices and sizes being the most important issues! Mothers had thrown caution to the wind as children came and went out of their homes without any restrictions. Gates which are usually kept tightly closed due to the uncertain conditions in the city were left open, as the kids had to dash in and out at their whims. Sometimes they needed to feed the animals, and at others they just hopped in for a quick snack which most mothers kept handy, as they knew how hard pressed for time their little ones were!

Temporary sheds or tents had been put up in front of various houses to keep the sacrificial animals comfortable and safe from the scorching sun. Goats could be seen strolling around with the kids who also enacted an occasional race, while the cows were usually taken for a walk after the men came back from their workplaces. The bleating of the goats, the mooing of the cows, together with the tinkling of the bells round their necks and the happy laughter and shouts of the kids sounded like music to the ear.

Wednesday being the first day of the three sacrificial days, a major part of the animals were slaughterd as the kids could be seen looking a bit sad, but trying to hide their depression in the Eid merriments and feasting. The second day saw majority of the animals gone, with only one or two goats left in a few houses to be slaughtered on the third day. And finally on Friday all signs of these animals that remained were the adornments and pieces of ropes lying outside houses.

In the three hectic days, meat was distributed amongst the needy, stored in freezers by the home makers and barbecues held or planned by the kabab lovers. Majority of the people were busy in Eid get togethers, lunches, dinners and social visits which are all part of this big Muslim festival.

But now that Eid and all the activities and the excitement related to it is finally over, the street seems quieter than usual! Though the kids still seem to be gripped with the memories of their beloved animals, they have to be pulled back to their normal routines. Mothers are busy arranging and re arranging freezers and always in search for new recipes for the sacrificial meat they have saved! The makeshift comfort zones for the cows and goats have disappeared and on the whole life seems to move back to normal again.

But in all these hectic activities, how many of us remembered to tell our children the true reason behind the sacrifice of these animals? The lessons of obedience, sacrifice and total submission to the will of Allah have to be learned and re learned every year, and as parents it is our duty to teach our young generation about the true spirit of  Eid ul Azha!

The story of Hazrat Ibrahim A.S and Hazrat Ismail, the son who was granted to him in quite an old age, should prove to be an inspiration in obedience for our youngsters. Allah liked the act of total submission to His will by His prophet so much that He made it obligatory for all affluent Muslims to sacrifice animals in His name on that day every year.

Then, when the son reached the age of serious work with him, he said: “O my son! I see in vision that I offer you in sacrifice: now say what is your view!” The son said “O my father! Do as you are commanded: you will find me , if Allah so wills, one practicing patience and consistency!”

So when they had both submitted their wills to Allah, and he laid him prostrate on his forehead for sacrifice, We called out to him “O Ibrahim! You have already fulfilled the vision!” thus indeed do We reward those who do right. For this was obviously a trial, and We ransomed him with a momentous sacrifice: And We left this blessing for him among generations to come in later times.

Sura As-Saffat 102-108

They (the righteous) perform their vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide.

And they feed for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan and

the captive.

(Saying) we feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we

desire from you, nor thanks.

We only fear a day of distressful wrath from the side of our Lord.

But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that day, and will shed

over them a light of beauty and blissful joy.

O you who believe! Fear ALLAH, and let every soul look to what

(provision) he has sent forth for the morrow. Yes, fear ALLAH, for

ALLAH is well-acquainted with all that you do.

And be you not like those who forgot ALLAH; And HE made them

forget their own souls! Such are the rebellious transgressors!

Touching Quranic Ayat

(To be recited when one is in distress)

Or who listens to the (soul) distressed when it calls

on Him, and Who relieves it”s suffering, and makes

you (mankind) inheritors of the earth? (Can there be

another) god besides Allah? Little it is that you heed.

Sura Al Naml

—————————————————-

13-07-2013

“Our Lord! Forgive us our sins, blot out from us our iniquities, and

take to yourself our souls in the company of the righteous.

Our Lord! Grant us what you promised unto us through Your

Apostle (PBUH), and save us from shame on the Day of Judgment:

for You never break Your promise.”

Sura Al e Imran: Part of Ayat 93 and Ayat 94

——————————————————————-

9-7-2013
When I muse on my sins and despair seizes my heart this Quranic verse consoles me:

Say: O my servants who have transgressed against their souls!

Despair not of the Mercy of Allah: for Allah forgives all sins: for

He is Oft- forgiving, Most Merciful.

Turn to your Lord (in repentance) and bow to His Will, before the

Chastitement comes on you: after that you shall not be helped.

Sura Al- Zumar, Ayat 53-54

———————————————–

5-5-13
An inspiration in adversities!

Be sure We shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some

loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil), but give glad

tidings to those who patiently persevere.

Who say, when afflicted with calamity: “To Allah we belong, and to Him is our return”.

They are those on whom (descend) blessings from Allah, and Mercy,

and they are the ones that receive guidance.

Sura Al Baqarah Ayat 155-157

If you reject (Allah), Truly Allah has no need of you; but He does

not like ingratitude from His servants, if you are grateful He is

pleased with you. No bearer of burdens can bear the burdens of

another. In the End, to your Lord is your Return, when He will tell

you the truth of all that you did (in this life). For He knows well all that is in (men’s) hearts.

When some trouble touches man, he cries unto his Lord, turning to

Him in repentance; but when He bestows a favour upon him as from

Himself, (man ) forgets what he cried and prayed for before, and he

sets up rivals to Allah, thus misleading others from Allah’s path.

Sura Al Zamar Ayat 7,8

———————————————————————

7- 6- 2012, My favourite DUA in the Quran:

On no soul Allah places a burden greater than it can bear. It gets

every good that it earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns.

(Pray) Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget or fall into error; Our

Lord! Lay not on us a burden like that which you did lay on people

before us; Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden greater than we have

strength to bear. Blot out our sins, and grant us forgiveness. Have

mercy on us. You are our Protector; help us against those who

stand against Faith.

My Inspiration Ayat for Today (4-6-2012)

“Did you think that We created you in jest, and that you would not

be brought back to Us (for account)?”

Therefore exalted be Allah, the King, the Reality: there is no God

but He, the Lord of the Throne of Honour!

24-4 2012… My inspiring Ayat for today! Please read, ponder and spread the message!

Sura Aal- I- ‘Imran… Ayat No 26, 27

Say: “O Allah, Lord of all dominion! You give power

to whom You please, and You strip off power from whom You please:

You award honour to whom You please, and You humiliate whom You

please: In Your hand lies all that is good, and You have power over everything.

“You cause the night to turn into day, and You

cause the day to turn into night; You bring forth the Living from

the dead, and You bring forth the dead from the living,; and You

give sustenance without measure to whom You please.”
